As I have been reading and writing about Napoleon Hill lately, many thoughts have crossed my mind. The great thing about putting focus on an idea or a direction is that the slippery little patterns that set us back in our desire to achieve personal excellence come creeping out of their mental hiding place.
What I share with you now is a key to becoming the person you seek to be by recognizing those thought patterns rather than allowing them to speak quietly in the background. A whisper can be just as influencing as a shout, but it’s easy to ignore the whisper. One of my own slippery little thoughts relates to the gap between our focus point and our current situation. I’m sure that I’m not the only one who’s affected by this type of thought pattern, and so I bring it fully into the open so we can all benefit from a reshaping of that thought.
My focus in the past few years has been on redesigning myself in a way that shows more clearly who I am and what I have to offer. The actions that promote this shift consist of being with and supported by like-minded individuals from a variety of professions and profiles. Most people measure success with the easiest means possible, and that is by measuring the man (or woman) through money. It’s true that money is one of the key elements we expect to be in the outcome of our ventures, but it is only one of many signs of success.
So here I am, writing about success. As a seer, someone with highly defined intuitive skills, I could already see and feel the readers of my articles, noting some of the people I know in my present day world. I could see their reaction to my words and ideas, and found myself stopping short as that reader leapt across that chasm between their view of me as “just an ordinary person” to seeing me as a visionary with intelligent thoughts and expansive inner drive.
This is where I discovered my own slippery little thought pattern. The thought actually dates back many years. It was the “who do you think you are” statement that people make when we step outside the normal conditions and create something excellent. It really can throw people into a tizzy when we act in a way that is brilliant, or wildly imaginative. In the business world we call this vision and creativity. In the metaphysical terms we call it “being in flow” or expressing our higher consciousness. Have you noticed that the sleepwalkers in life do not like it when we do things that force them to wake up a little?
